(More customer reviews)I've bookmarked many a recipe in The $5 Dinner Mom Breakfast and Lunch Cookbook as there are so MANY yummy sounding recipes waiting for me to try. And every recipe is inexpensive as author Erin Chase keeps her promise of keeping everything under $5 per meal. You read it: per meal. Breakfasts and lunches typically run less than this amount. Here are some examples:
BREAKFAST
Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal served with yogurt, milk or cream plus a hard boiled egg: $1.99
Chocolate Chip Raspberry Pancakes, syrup and fresh fruit: $3.20
Ham and Cheese Omelet with Pumpkin Smoothies: $4.33
LUNCH
Baked Parmesan Chicken Fingers, Marinara Sauce, Spinach "Green" Smoothies: $4.99
Swiss BLT Melts with fresh fruit: $3.52
Cincinnati-Style Chili, spaghetti and fresh fruit: $3.82
There is a nice selection of salads, side dishes, smoothies and snack recipes rounding out this cookbook.
Overall, the prices seem within range and this book will help guide you to a trimmer food budget thanks to Chases' excellent recipes, grocery tips and commonsense.
